Not even sure what to say...

But here goes...

I don't even have the words to truly convey how I feel right now. I am ticked off, upset, disappointed, and frustrated as hell about this loss.

BUT...

I am proud of our team. I am proud of our coaches. We went into the game and played it well-prepared and ready to play. OU didn't lay down and die. OU didn't take Florida lightly. It was a well-fought game between two, of what I feel, are STILL the best 2 teams in the country. Unfortunately, we came out on the wrong side of the W/L column. Florida beat us. No excuses. If they are better than us, they are not better by much. It's no consolation, I know, but it is what it is. So, I extend my congrats to the Gators and their fans (and they were very gracious before, during and after the game, unlike LSU fans from 2004). And many came up after the game when we were leaving Dolphin Stadium (talk about a great venue to watch football) and were honest enough with themselves to thank their lucky stars that they stopped us inside the 10 yard line twice. Otherwise, we all might be feeling a little bit better right now by celebrating our 8th NC.

I don't know what else to say. But again, I'm proud of our team and of our coaching staff. I'll take Stoops and his crew of coaches, along with the magnitude of the success that he has brought back to Norman any day, and EVERY day! Anyway, that's all from me for now, we are off for one last day on the beach and some Florida sunshine.

Again, congrats to the Gators. They were better last night.

Frustrated and Crushed but STILL Proud,
Okla21fan

Were you one of those fans with their mouths open standing in shock motionless in the stands when BSU beat the Sooners?
If so I have a tape of it so you can pan the stands to see your face. (Nephew on the team)
I am not much of a football fan. In fact, I hate football. So when I ask you this I ask you with great sincerity and integrity.
Why do the Sooner Fans think they can't lose and are sooooooooo shocked when they do?

Truth is, college football is probably more competitive than at any time in its history. The elite teams are very good. So are teams that may not have the history of others. ANY team can beat another on any given day. While I find it hard to believe that our Sooners are able to EVER lose a game, sensibility says we will. And the more we play in championships, the more likely we may lose. I have wished since I was 8 years old that OU would NEVER lose a game. That's a lot of years since that I've been gut-kicked with EVERY single loss. I finally figured out some time ago that, much to my chagrin, OU was going to lose games. Sometimes to inferior opponents. Sometimes to better teams. Yes, that's right. Sometimes there are actually better teams. But I've always known that's the way it is. I'm not sure it would be better if we didn't have to struggle. Kind of like winning every game of checkers with a 5 year old or winning 3 out of 10 games of chess against a master. Yes, we're paying in advance for 'number 8'. And maybe 'number 9'. But OU still is what most college football teams aspire to be.
Oklahomans have probably been called just about every derogatory name one could think of. Primarily out of ignorance. Many times out of jealousy. I've never let it bother me. I know what we truly are. I know that because of who and what we are, we can handle the adversity, keep our heads high, and when we win our next MNC, we handle it with the grace of a champion. and every now an then some team will beat OU again, and their fans will storm the field (something that has not happened in Norman in a decade, and the university will look at the win is their 'marquee' win for years to come. The bar is set very high at OU, that's what makes the program what it is.
